Starting off 2013 right

Some good things happening here this year. Chickory is doing well in her new home, it's a large ranch where she spends her days with a brood mare band, and this spring the new owner plans to breed her to his good grulla stud, Jazz Poco Goldun Blue. I plan on visiting there this year to see her Beamer baby, which is due in March.

Shining Midnite Moon (aka Nitro) who was sold to a lady in Cranbrook, was resold to a friend of my husband's and is now being boarded back with us. We are delighted to have him, and have the opportunity to watch this gorgeous boy grow up.

Speaking of gorgeous boys, Diamond Rio Peppy (aka Rio) is 2 this year, and his training is going really well. We've been doing a lot of ground work on him,. and yesterday he got to find out how it feels to have a rider on his back.
He was pretty relaxed about it as you can see by his soft eye. No, that's not me up there, it's a young lady who doesn't weigh much! She will be paired up with Rio for his upcoming show career. Rio will be going for 2 months of professional training this summer at Smith Training Stables, Ft. McLeod Alberta.
The horse in my header photo is Rio as a baby.

The ladies in waiting, Coyote Belle and Bar Dawn Sabre (Gussie) are both due to foal at the end of March. If Belle has a colt, it will be for sale, if it's a filly I'm keeping her. Gussie's foal will be for sale, we are hoping that her track record of blue roan babies holds for this one too.
